A pole sign is the single most visible piece of advertising a Shafter business can own. Positioned high above roadways like Highway 43 and Lerdo Highway, your sign works 24 hours a day pulling in drivers who would otherwise pass right by. TM Signs and Graphics designs, fabricates, and installs custom pole signs built to handle the San Joaquin Valley heat and wind that punishes lesser signage.
TM Signs and Graphics has been building commercial signage across Kern County for years, and we know the specific challenges Shafter business owners face. Your sign has to survive 100-degree summer days, valley dust storms, and occasional Tule fog that eats cheap finishes alive. We use powder-coated steel, UV-resistant panels, and energy-efficient LEDs that hold up season after season.
We also handle every phase in house, from concept to installation. That means one point of contact, one timeline, and no finger-pointing between a designer, a fabricator, and a subcontracted installer. Business owners across the region trust us for everything from pole signs to blade signs in Shafter and 3D sign lettering in Shafter.
We are not a franchise. We are a local sign company that answers the phone, shows up on time, and builds signage that actually performs. When you work with us, you get direct access to the people fabricating and installing your sign.
Monument signs sit at ground level and look sharp at the entrance to office parks or gated developments. But in Shafter, most commercial properties sit along fast-moving corridors like Highway 43 and Lerdo Highway. A monument sign at ground height is easy to miss at 55 mph. A pole sign puts your name 20 to 40 feet in the air where drivers spot it a quarter mile out.
Pole signs also win when your building sits behind a parking lot or is set back from the road. That extra height clears parked cars, landscaping, and neighboring structures. If your goal is maximum drive-by impressions, a pylon or pole sign delivers more than a monument sign almost every time.
That said, some properties benefit from both. TM Signs and Graphics can evaluate your specific lot layout and traffic patterns to recommend the right combination. We also build aluminum and metal signs in Shafter that complement a pole sign installation with directional or secondary signage on your property.
TM Signs and Graphics serves business owners throughout Shafter, including properties along Lerdo Highway, the Central Avenue commercial corridor, and the growing industrial zone near the Shafter Minter Field area. We also work with businesses in neighboring communities like Bakersfield, Wasco, and Delano who need high-visibility pole signage along Highway 99 and Highway 43.
Whether you run a truck stop near the freeway interchange, a retail shop downtown, or a fleet operation that also needs vehicle wraps and graphics in Shafter, we build signage that matches the scale and speed of the traffic passing your door.
Shafter’s municipal sign code and Kern County zoning regulations set height limits that vary by zone, typically ranging from 20 to 40 feet for freestanding commercial pole signs. The allowed height depends on your property’s zoning classification and proximity to the highway. TM Signs and Graphics checks these requirements during our site survey so your sign is built to the maximum allowable height.
Yes. The City of Shafter requires a sign permit for any new freestanding pole sign, and some locations may also need a building permit for the foundation and electrical work. We handle the full permit process for you, including drawings and engineering documents the city requires.
Most pole sign projects take four to eight weeks from design approval to completed installation. Permit turnaround with the City of Shafter is the biggest variable. We start fabrication as soon as permits are approved so there is no wasted time.
Absolutely. We retrofit existing pole signs with energy-efficient LED modules that dramatically cut electricity costs and improve nighttime visibility. LED upgrades are especially valuable in Shafter where Tule fog can reduce visibility during winter months.
A high-rise pylon sign with an illuminated price changer panel is the standard for fuel stations along Highway 43 and Highway 99. TM Signs and Graphics builds these with programmable LED price displays and durable cabinet faces that stay visible day and night. We size the sign to be readable from highway speed at a safe stopping distance.
TM Signs and Graphics builds pole signs that put Shafter businesses above the competition, literally. Every sign is custom designed, locally fabricated, and professionally installed by our own crew. We are booking new Shafter projects for 2026 right now, and slots fill fast during peak construction season. Call us at 661-379-6545 or send us your project details through our contact page. We respond the same business day.

TM Signs really came through for us on our exhibition Overtime. Mike and the installation team helped us get a pretty big print and install job done on a tight timeline, and the truth is, the wall we were dealing with wasn’t exactly trying to make anybody’s life easy. Uneven surfaces, weird hanging issues, all the fun stuff. But they figured it out, got everything printed in time, showed up and handled the install with care. This was our first time doing this kind of event so there were a lot of moving pieces and having a team that could stay calm and problem solve made a big difference. The work looked clean, the panels held up and the show turned out better because of them. I’d definitely work with Mike and his team over at TM Signs again.

TM Signs and Graphics in Bakersfield exceeded my expectations! I'm usually hesitant about ordering any prints for a business, due to the many variables that can affect its quality and especially color. As a designer, I appreciate their process and the top-notch quality of their deliverables. After trying many local print shops in Bakersfield, I can CONFIDENTLY say, TM Signs and Graphics is the friendliest and best printers town! They use vector files (.ai, .svg) for printing, setting them apart from other budget options nearby. TM Signs and Graphics is the way to go, recommend for superior results!
